Every year we look forward to connecting with our fellow expats to celebrate Canada Day. The event is a highlight of CNNC’s social activities, and one we hold dear as Canadians away from home.
Sadly, in light of COVID-19 and the continued need to socially distance ourselves to minimize its spread and protect the most vulnerable in our communities, the CNNC leadership team has decided to cancel this year’s Canada Day event.
Helping our communities stay informed and connected is core to this volunteer organization. We will continue to do so when able, only without any planned in-person gatherings for the foreseeable future.
Everyone’s fingers are crossed that we will all be able to celebrate Canada Day once again in true Canadian form in years to come. Until then, take care of yourselves.
CNNC wishes all Canadians in North Carolina a happy July 1st!

Seventy-two Canadians mingled, drank Molson, ate poutine and Canada Day cake, answered trivia questions and sweated profusely at today’s Canada Day Cake and Trivia event! A million thanks to staff at Sammy’s for hosting us on the patio on this hot summer day (38 Celsius) and providing us with Canadian treats and lots of water. We loved the bilingual sign at the door!
Additional thanks to Royal Bank of Canada, Winnipeg Jets, Consulate General of Canada in Atlanta and private individuals for donating freebies used as raffle and trivia prizes. A big thank you to Susana, Ian, Shesha and Caroline for making it all happen.
Enjoy the pics and stay cool!
