Economic Development Challenges and Opportunities: The Future of Work and Education in NC on Tuesday June 5, 2018 5:30 pm – 8:00 pm Location: First Citizens Center, 4300 Six Forks Road, Raleigh, NC
What will North Carolina’s economy look like in 2050? According to the World Economic Forum, 65% of today’s students will work in jobs that don’t exist today. What are the economic drivers that will play a key role in shaping our future over the next three decades, and what are the implications for our economy and institutions? Our panel of experts will share their knowledge and experience with an audience of 100+ attendees eager to benefit from their analysis and insights into North Carolina’s future challenges and opportunities. The panelists will address key questions regarding the impact of new technology on jobs, which sectors of the workforce will thrive or decline, the need for new approaches to postsecondary education and for policies and programs that will address the particular issues facing NC’s rural communities.

Booth 2017: Day 3
Another wonderful day at the Canada Booth and the last of this year’s International Festival. The combination of the colourful superheroes and the contemplative black and white didactics about the real, human heroes was a success. We got great compliments about the booth all weekend: eye-catching, educational, fun, well-designed with easy to read panels, and–most important–hosted by knowledgeable and friendly volunteers.
Here are a few photos of today’s action at the Booth.
Thank you to our superb volunteers who hosted today: Carol, Caroline, Helen, Frank, Ethan, Paul, and Gary.
Booth 2017: Day 2
Another great day at the Canada Booth enlightening puzzled visitors who didn’t realize that Superman had a Canadian connection (artist and co-creator Joe Shuster was born in Toronto). More people took time to also look at the true Canadian heroes today. Several were amazed at the diversity of the heroic human on our walls and at their courage, valour and accomplishments.
Thank you to our fantastic volunteers who hosted the Booth today: Gary, Paul, Joe, Jane, Susana, Ian, Donna, Alara, Caitlyn, Nedelka. Karissa, Martin and Caroline!
